577: Sibelius 5 crashes when trying to open or save a file - eData Security
Problem:
We are aware of some compatibility issues between eData Security (which is included on most new Acer computers) and Sibelius 5. This causes Sibelius to crash whenever an Open or Save dialog box is opened.
Solution:
Adjusting the way eData Security integrates with Windows Explorer will prevent this problem from occurring:
- Download AutoRuns from Microsoft Windows Sysinternals
- Open the Autoruns.zip file you just downloaded and double-click on the autoruns application. (If you are having trouble opening the .zip file, please refer to this article)
- Agree to the licensing conditions
- Go to Options and select Hide Microsoft Entries, then go to File and choose Refresh
- Select the Explorer tab (not Internet Explorer)
- Deselect each Acer eDataSecurity entry
- Close AutoRuns and restart your computer
If you are still having problems please refer to Help Center article A563: Problems running Sibelius 5 before contacting technical support.
